#Overview of the Task
You will be given a statement on a general topic. The statement will specify a problem, an argument, or a point of view. Your task is to respond to the statement by writing an essay.
The time allotted for this task is 40 minutes. The word limit is 250 words.
#Assessment and Marking criteria
Being aware of the marking criteria is essential to score well in the IELTS Test. You can practice and develop the required skills.
You will be tested on four criteria, each caring the equal weightage,i.e., 25%. The marking standards are as follows:

Task Response
Task Response tests you respond to the question appropriately. Under this criterion, the essay is scrutinized for details and keywords. It examines the main idea and how it is developed. The number of words written is also checked. The word limit for this task is 250.

Cohesion and Coherence
The structure of the essay, the paragraphing skills are examined. All the paragraphs in the article should be logically structured. There should be a clear progression of thought throughout the essay.

Lexical Resources
Under the Lexical Resource Criterion, the range of vocabulary is considered. It would help if you used a wide range of vocabulary and word forms. Make sure that your spellings and collocations are correct.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy
You should use complex sentences. Use different grammar tenses. Sentences should be structured well.
How to score better in the IELTS Academic Writing task 2?
Pay attention to the following points to score better in Writing task 2

Address all the issues in the question.

Give specific details instead of a generalized idea.

Aim for 260-280 worded essay

Divide your essay into 4 or 5 paragraphs.

Logically organize your thoughts.

Use a range of vocabulary.

Use the correct collocations and spellings.

Use a range of grammar tenses.

Include both- simple as well as complex sentences.

Avoid grammatical errors.
Score band from 5-8
Most students aim for a score band which is 5-8.
