Steps to apply for a student visa for New Zealand -

  • Once you get an admission letter from the university you want to go to, you can arrange all the required documents. The required documents are mentioned below.
  • Then you will have to send those documents to the New Zealand High Commission in New Delhi.
  • Then you can file the Visa online
  • Pay the visa fees and check the status online
  • Receive the Acceptance Letter from Immigration (AIP)
  • Pay the tuition fees (from the primary account)
  • Tax Residency and Foreign Tax Information form for Bank New Zealand Limited (commonly referred to as ANZ)
  • Get the E-Visa copy.
  • Once you land in New Zealand, you will get an IRD number (Tax Number)
  • You also need to find a doctor for healthcare.

Post-Study Work Visa in New Zealand -

If you get your student visa after 8th August 2018, then the following is the length of your post-study work visa, which is based upon your level of qualification & from where it was -

If you studied in Auckland -
  • If your bachelor’s degree is Level 7 or higher, your Post Study Work Visa is valid for 3 years.
  • If you have a Level 7 Graduate Diploma or another Level 7 qualification, your Post Study Work Visa is valid for 1 year.
  • If you have 1 or more acceptable qualifications at Levels 4 to 6, your Post Study Work Visa is valid for 1 year.
If you studied outside Auckland -
  • If your bachelor’s degree is Level 7 or higher, you can apply for a Post Study Work Visa for 3 years.
  • If you completed your Graduate Diploma or another Level 7 qualification :

    • On or before 31st December 2021, your Post Study Work Visa is valid for 2 years
    • After 31st December 2021, your Post Study Work Visa is valid for 1 year
  • Qualification you completed is at Level 4,5 or 6 :

    • On or before 31st December 2021, your Post Study Work Visa is valid for 2 years
    • After 31st December 2021, your Post Study Work Visa is valid for 1 year

  • Original & Photocopy of your Passport
  • Handwritten Statement of Purpose
  • Passport-sized photos
  • Offers of Place (This document is issued from a New Zealand institute/university. It is usually issued after paying the tuition fee.)
  • Financial Documents
  • Student Affidavit
  • Parents Affidavit (Mother & Father both)
  • Educational Certificates & Marksheets
  • English Proficiency Test scorecard
  • Resume
  • Health Certificate & Health Insurance receipt.
  • Police Clearance Certificate
Police Clearance Certificate -

  • Carry all the required documents on the day of the appointment to verify
  • Once everything is clear, the clearance certificate is issued.
Health Certificate -
  • Schedule an appointment with the doctor given in the doctor panelist.
  • Carry necessary documents with you & you need to get a chest X-Ray report done.
Financial Documents -
  • Schedule an appointment with the doctor given in the doctor panelist.
  • Carry necessary documents with you & you need to get a chest X-Ray report done.
  • If the course is for one and half years, then the student needs to show living expenses for 1 1/2 years.
  • Funds can be shown by the student in the form of Liquid Cash, Provident Fund, Fixed Deposit (Older than one year)
  • The student needs to have a 06 months bank statement. If any entry is above 60,000 students, need to show clarification for each entry.

It is mandatory to pay the fees from the account that the student has shown for their VISA.
