In the QS World University Rankings 2021, Ireland has eight universities. Five of them are among the top 500 companies in the world.
This year, Trinity College Dublin (TCD) has risen seven places in the global rankings to become the best Irish institution.

Trinity College Dublin (TCD) has been named Ireland's best university for the second year in a row. TCD is ranked equal 101st in the World University Rankings 2021, up seven places from last year. Its Trinity campus is located in the center of Dublin.
The university, which was founded in 1592, has a long history and a reputation for distinction in education, research, and innovation. It is Ireland's only member of the elite League of 22 European Research Universities (LERU). Writers Oscar Wilde and Samuel Beckett, physicists William Rowan Hamilton and Earnest Walton, and political thinker Edmund Burke are among TCD's distinguished graduates.

National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG):
The National University of Ireland in Galway, which is ranked third in Ireland and joint 238th globally, has dropped eight places in the index this year. Despite this decline, it continues to rank highly in the faculty-to-student ratio and foreign faculty metrics.
In 1845, the National University of Ireland in Galway was established. It has grown dramatically in both size and reputation since then, with a student body of over 18,000 students. NUIG provides a variety of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as part-time degrees, flexible learning choices, and online learning.
University College Cork (UCC):
University College Cork (UCC) is ranked fourth in Ireland and 286th worldwide, having risen an amazing 24 places in the rankings this year. It was established in 1849, making it substantially older than any of the other Irish universities included in the rankings. UCC presently boasts a student body of over 21,000 students.
About a 10-minute walk from Cork city center, the UCC campus is situated on 42 acres of forest grounds. With a high global faculty indicator score, it is Ireland's most distinguished research institution.
Dublin City University
Dublin City University (DCU) is ranked joint 439th internationally and fifth in Ireland in the global top 500. DCU was established in 1975 and now has three campuses located throughout Dublin.
DCU is dedicated to improving its students' employability and developing transferable skills. It was Ireland's first higher education school to include internships in the workplace (INTRA) in its undergraduate programmes.This could explain why they achieved such a high score in the most recent QS Employability Rankings (301-500).
University of Limerick (UL):
This year, the University of Limerick (UL) is placed 511-520 in the world and sixth in Ireland, according to the Times Higher Education rankings. The University of Limerick is situated on Ireland's west coast, along the Shannon River, in a natural environment of outstanding beauty.
Because of UL's strong ties to business and industry, its graduates have a 15% higher employment rate than the national average. The school was the first in Ireland to introduce the concept of Cooperative Education, which helps to place over 2,000 students in paid and semi-paid work placements each year.
Maynooth University:
Maynooth University is ranked eighth in Ireland and 701-750 in the world. Maynooth Institution was founded in 1997 as an autonomous university, but its roots may be traced back to the Royal College of St Patrick, which was founded in 1795.
More than 13,000 pupils from 90 nations attend the institution now. It has a strong worldwide orientation, with a variety of foreign programmes and collaborations. It achieved its greatest score in the international faculty indicator this year, ranking 210th globally.
Technological University of Dublin:
The Technological University of Dublin (TU Dublin), which ranks 801-1000 internationally, is at the top of our list of the best universities in Ireland. TU Dublin was established in 2019 as Ireland's first Technological University. The school has a strong employment rate, with 93 percent of graduates finding work or continuing their studies within nine months of graduation.
TU Dublin has a diverse student body, with 29,700 students representing 138 different countries. In total, the university has three campuses: one in the center of Dublin city, as well as campuses in Blanchardstown and Tallaght, two of Dublin's most populous neighborhoods. TU Dublin is currently constructing a fourth campus in the heart of Dublin, which they plan to open in 2022.
