#Useful strategies for solving the Short Answer Question.
-
Read the questions first.
Before you listen to the audio, it is better to read the questions. By doing so, you will understand the questions and know which information to look out for.
-
Mark the keywords
Once you read the questions, it is essential to underline the keywords. Keywords will help you predict and locate the correct answer.
-
Predict the answers.
After you read and understand the question, the next logical step is to predict the answers.
In some of the questions, you easily predict the answer by figuring out the type of information required(name, date, time, place, etc.)
-
Synonyms and Paraphrases.
More often than not, the examiners will use a lot of synonyms and paraphrases. It is a good practice to think of synonyms and paraphrases while reading the questions.
-
Be aware of the distractors
Words such as "but" and "however" are called distractors. They change the meaning of the previous sentences.
For example, My family was planning to spend the summer in Switzerland. However, the plan was canceled last minute, and we stayed home.
-
Transfer the answers accurately.
You will be given 10 minutes at the end of the Test to transfer your answers. Usually, you will be asked to write the letter and not the word of the correct answer. You should write 'A,' or 'B' instead of the word.
