A public university that was formerly known as Louisiana State University at Alexandria, Louisiana State University of Alexandria (also abbreviated as LSU of Alexandria or LSUA) is located in the city of Alexandria in the state of Louisiana. It provides degrees at the undergraduate level in a wide variety of fields. The university is a component of the LSU System and functions as an educational institution under the direction of the Louisiana Board of Regents. In the fall of 2017, LSUA had 3,378 students enrolled, which is the highest number of students the university has ever had at any given time in its history. The establishment can be found on the grounds of the former Oakland Plantation, which can be found approximately eight miles south of the city centre of Alexandria. The campus is home to a number of magnificent oak trees that date back to the nineteenth century.
