Successful Indian CEOs  and their qualification abroad

 

Securing the chief executive officer (CEO) position of an institution is a goal for many in the financial world. The job requires you to be a quick-witted and highly accomplished person. Here is a list of Indian CEOs with a foreign degree, which made it big in the corporate world.

 

#Sundar Pichai

 

Sundar Pichai was born in  Madurai, Tamil Nadu, in 1972. He is currently posted as the chief executive officer ( CEO) of Alphabet and its subsidiary company, google. 

Pichai was born educated and highly educated. Open-minded household, his mother, Lakshmi, was a stenographer, and his father, Regunatha Pichai, was an engineer at a British multinational GEC.  

At a very early age, Sundar Pichai developed an interest in how the technology works and related fields. 

Pichai pursued a degree in metallurgy at the Institute of Technology Kharagpur. After he graduated from Kharagpur, Pichai was awarded a scholarship at Stanford University, California. He did his M.S. in engineering and material science at Stanford University. He went on to pursue an M.B.A from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 2002. 

 

In 2004, Pichai joined Google as the head of product management and development. He was the mind behind Google Chrome browser and Chrome OS. His hard work, his intellect, and his leadership skills earned him the position of CEO of Google in August 2015 and, in December 2019, the CEO of Alphabet.

 

#Satya Nadella

 

Satya  Nadella is the current at  Microsoft. The competent CEO was born in Hyderabad in August 1967. Nadella completed his schooling at the Hyderabad Public School in Begumpet. He attended Manipal Institute of Technology, where he received his bachelor’s in electrical engineering in 1998. Nadella holds an MS in computer science from the esteemed  University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee. He later earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

 

Nadella began his career as a member of the technology staff at  Sun Microsystem. In 1992, he quit his job to join Microsoft as an engineer. He soon secured the position of Vice President of Microsoft Central in 2000.  His career saw a steady rise after that. In 2007,   Nadella served as the Senior Vice President of Microsoft Online Services. His success doesn’t end here; in 2011, he took over as the President of the Server and Tool Division, which saw significant reforms under the leadership of Nadella. The revenue of the division increased from $ 16.6 billion to $20.3 billion during the tenure of Nadella.

 

In 2014, Nadella was appointed as the CEO of Microsoft. He maintained the reputation of Microsoft as one of the top companies in the technological field. 

 

#Indra Nooyi

Indra Nooyi was the former chairman and the chief executive officer of PepsiCo. She did her early education in Chennai, and her master’s from IIM Calcutta. 

Nooyi began her professional life in India as a product manager at Johnson and Johnson and textile firm Matter Breadsell.

Nooyi was awarded a scholarship by the Yale School of Management to pursue her MBA. After her graduation, She joined Boston Consulting Group; she held the position of a strategy consultant. She served as Vice-chairman and Director of Corporate Strategy and Planning at Motorola.

 

Nooyi’s career graph was on the rise when she joined PepsiCo in 1994. She was responsible for some of the significant decisions taken by PepsiCo, including the acquisition of Tropicana and the merger with Quaker Oats Company. Her strategic planning is appreciable. Nooyi was named CEO of PepsiCo in 2006. Nooyi was featured in Time's 100 Most Influential People in the World in 2007. She was also listed in the Forbes Magazine, which ranked her third in the most powerful women in 2008. 

In October 2018, Ramon Lauguarta succeeded Nooyi as the CEO of PepsiCo.

#Shantanu Narayen

 

Shantanu Narayen is the Chairman, President, and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)  at Adobe System Incorporated. Before joining Adobe, Narayen was a product developer at Apple. He was also a co-founder of a photo-sharing startup called Pictra. 

 

Narayen has an imposing educational background. He was born in Hyderabad and attended the Hyderabad Public School.  He studied at Osmania University to obtain a degree in electronics engineering.  Narayen moved to the US to pursue an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley. He also holds an MS degree in software engineering from Bowling Green State University, Ohio.

 

Narayen has had a fascinating journey at Adobe. He has served as President and Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President of Worldwide Products. He was also appointed as the Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Development, President of the Adobe Foundation Board. He held several other high positions in the organization before being appointed as the CEO  in 2007.
