Masters in Engineering Management in Canada

Students pursuing a Master's degree in Engineering Management can advance their careers in the field of engineering administration (MEM). MEM in Canada is a two-year program that costs between 14,000 and 38,500 USD for an international student to complete. This equates to 10-28 LPA for Indian aspirants, according to estimates. A Masters in Engineering Management from Canada is a postgraduate degree that can assist in understanding and developing industrial engineering strategies, skills, and concerns. An entry-level postgraduate with a master's in engineering management can secure high-paying jobs in Canada, with an average salary of 80,000 to 100,000 USD per year, based on their expertise in the field.

International applicants who wish to enroll in MEM courses in Canada must have a four-year relevant bachelor's degree with an average score of 3.0/4.0 to be considered (83-86 percent or B grade). The majority of the top universities in Canada that offer MEM programs require you to have previous work experience. For those applying to the course without GRE or GMAT scores, on the other hand, these scores are not required for admission. As a STEM program, a Master's in engineering management can make it easier for students to immigrate to Canada by granting them additional points on their permanent residency visa application.

#Types of MEM in Canada

A more specialized field such as MEM is becoming increasingly popular among engineering graduates, owing to the growing demand for MBAs. An MBA from Canada is a relatively generic field for engineering students, owing to the rigorous admissions requirements and higher cost of study in the country. MBA programmes are solely concerned with business planning, legal issues, and management. MEM, on the other hand, integrates engineering and business by concentrating on technical production, design engineering, product development, and other aspects. MEM is available in several different degree formats. These are the ones:

  • A master in engineering management: MEM
  • A branch of engineering with management: MEng
  • Business administration with engineering management specialization: MBA in Engineering Management
  • An applied science master with engineering management: MASc Engineering Management.

#Eligibility Criteria

International students who wish to study in Canada must meet specific eligibility requirements, submit additional documents with their application, and hold a valid Canadian study permit to be considered. Below is a description of the admissions process and eligibility requirements for international applicants who wish to pursue a Master of Engineering Management degree.

The eligibility requirements for admission to Masters in Engineering programs in Canada differ slightly depending on which university is offering the program. The following are some of the general eligibility requirements that international applicants must meet:

  • When an applicant applies for the MS in engineering management, he or she must have completed a four-year bachelor's degree program.
  • Admission into the program is contingent on the applicant having a master's degree or a diploma in a relevant field if they have completed three-year bachelor's programs. If an applicant has completed three-year bachelor's programs, they are required to have a master's degree or diploma in a relevant field.
  • International applicants, except those applying to the University of Regina, are required to hold a bachelor's degree in engineering.
    • The University of Regina requires applicants to have a bachelor's degree in business administration.
    • If the bachelor's degree is in a subject other than business, applicants will be required to hold a diploma in business administration.

#Admission Requirements

Candidates from outside of Canada who wish to apply for a master's degree in engineering management in Canada are required to submit the following documents with their applications:

  • Diplomas and transcripts: Universities require official, unofficial, and certified copies of diplomas and transcripts from students. If necessary, English language translations of the transcripts should be sent along.
  • Applicants from outside the country are required to submit a letter of recommendation (LOR). It is possible to have either an academic or a professional background in these areas. The number of letters may vary.
  • CV/Resume: In addition to the applications, an updated CV/Resume should be submitted as well.
  • Proof of Language Proficiency: International applicants who are not native English speakers are required to submit documentation demonstrating their English language proficiency.

Canadian Master of Engineering Management admissions are extremely competitive, with only a small number of places available. Applicants are evaluated based on a variety of factors, including standardized test scores, interviews, and previous academic records, among others. The decisions are made public between four and eight months after they are made.
