Bachelor’s Percentage or GPA
To be eligible for a master’s degree in any university in Canada, a minimum GPA of 3.0- 4.0, that is 65- 70%, or any equivalent undergraduate degree is required.
Work Experience
Work experience is something that is not mandatory for pursuing a master’s degree in Canada, but an experience of two years holds quite some weight in your resume and puts you above other applicants. Having some kind of work experience shows the university and the recruiters that you are ready and eager to dive into the real world.
Letter of Recommendation
For courses like MS in data science, or MS in computer science, two academic letters of recommendation are necessary. Whereas, if you want to pursue professional degrees like MBA and MS in Economics, one academic and one professional letter of recommendation is required
Statement of Purpose
An SOP, along with other documents, is a mandatory document required to be submitted by the students to the university that they aim to get into. It helps the university in evaluating your goals, knowledge, expectations, and vision of the future. It shows the university why you should be chosen over other applicants to study at their university.
Curriculum Vitae
A CV states your previous education details and personal information like your address. It is not a mandatory document, but it adds to your profile.
IELTS and TOEFL
Either TOEFL or IELTS is accepted by Canadian universities as proof of your proficiency in English. Varying from one institution to another, the required score of TOEFL may be 80- 110, and that of IELTS may be 6- 7.5 bands.
GRE and GMAT
GRE is not a mandatory test for admission at the master's level in universities in Canada. However, a good GMAT score is important for admission to MBA courses. The average GMAT score is 550, but the range accepted by universities is 500- 600.
Extracurricular Activities
Most of the universities in Canada do not require participation in extracurricular activities, however, it is something that makes your application stand out from the rest of the applicants. These activities may include participation in sports, events in your college, or social work.
Grade X And XII Marks
Your 10th and 12th-grade marks do not make a very large difference when applying to a Canadian university for a master’s degree. However, they do help the university understand that you have been consistent and serious when it comes to your education.
