Sewanee: Located in Sewanee, Tennessee, The University of the South, also known as Sewanee, is a private Episcopal liberal arts university. The School of Theology within serves as the church's recognized seminary, and it is owned by 28 southern dioceses of the Episcopal Church. American literature and creative writing graduate degrees are offered through the university's School of Letters. The Cumberland Plateau's picturesque mountain property totals 13,000 acres (53 km2), of which only roughly 1,000 acres are developed for the school (4.0 km2).
