MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE UNIVERSITY

Murfreesboro, Tennessee is home to a public institution of higher education known as Middle Tennessee State University (also abbreviated as MTSU or MT). The university was established in 1911 as a normal school. Today, it is comprised of eight undergraduate colleges and a college of graduate studies. Together, these colleges and the college of graduate studies offer more than 300 degree programmes through more than 35 departments. The Recording Industry, Aerospace, Music, and Concrete Industry Management programmes at MTSU are the ones that have brought the university the most notoriety. Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the United States Army, and the United States Marine Corps are the three branches of the United States armed forces that have collaborated with the university on research projects. Forbes magazine included Middle Tennessee State University as one of the nation's top 100 public universities in its ranking that was published in 2009. Before 2017, Middle Tennessee State University was a constituent of the Tennessee Board of Regents and the Tennessee State University and Community College System. The year 2017 marked the year that governance was handed over to an institutional board of trustees. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges has granted MTSU the status of an accredited institution. Intercollegiate competition is provided by Conference USA for MTSU's athletics programmes.
