ABOUT

In Jacksonville, Alabama, there is a public institution called Jacksonville State University (JSU). Jacksonville State, which was founded in 1883, provides courses leading to bachelor's, master's, doctorate, and education specialist degrees, as well as certificate programmes and opportunities for continuing education, in six academic schools. Doctor of Science in Emergency Management, the first doctoral degree offered by JSU, was introduced in the Fall 2011 semester. The institution received approval in 2016 to start offering the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree, which is its second doctorate. The school's original name was Jacksonville State Normal School, which was changed to Jacksonville State Teachers College in 1930 and then back to Jacksonville State College in 1957. In 1966, the institution opened its doors under the name Jacksonville State University. More over 9,000 students are now enrolled at JSU, and there are close to 500 faculty members (more than 320 of whom are full-time). The Princeton Review placed Jacksonville State's business school in the 90th percentile of all schools nationwide. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has granted it accreditation (SACS). 40 academic programmes (or 79% of those that can be certified) also received specific programming accreditations. Business, education, applied engineering, nursing, social work, drama, art, music, computer science, family and consumer science, and communication are some of the disciplines represented in these programmes.
