AMRIDGE UNIVERSITY

Montgomery, Alabama is home to the primary campus of Amridge University, which is a private institution of higher education that is connected to the Churches of Christ. It was formerly known as Alabama Christian School of Religion, Southern Christian University, and Regions University. It is currently known as Alabama Christian University and is the institution that succeeded Alabama Christian College. The Alabama Christian School of Religion was established in 1967 and has traditionally served as a theological seminary, with a particular focus on the education of ministerial candidates in the areas of Bible and Christian Counseling. Despite this, Amridge University now offers a wider variety of degree programmes. To this day, all levels of ministry and theological degrees are offered by the Turner School of Theology, which was named in honour of the school's founder, Rex Allwin Turner, Sr., and his wife, Opal Shipp Turner. The seminary training that is provided by the school remains to be a central endeavour.
