Montgomery, Alabama is home to the Christian-affiliated Faulkner University, which is a private institution. It is connected with the Churches of Christ all around the world. Montgomery Bible School was the original name of the institution when it was established in 1942 by Dr. Rex Turner, Dr. Leonard Johnson, and Joe Greer. The institution became known as Alabama Christian College after having its name changed in 1953. (ACC). The college was relocated in 1965 to its current location on Atlanta Highway, which it had previously occupied. 1975 was the year that saw the establishment of the university's first satellite campuses in Mobile, Huntsville, and Birmingham. In 1985, the institution was given the name Faulkner University in recognition of James H. Faulkner, who had been involved with the university for many years and served as the chairman of the board.
