SPRING HILL COLLEGE

In Mobile, Alabama, there is a private Jesuit university called Spring Hill College. Bishop of Mobile Michael Portier established it in 1830. It was the first Catholic college in the South, the fifth-oldest Catholic college in the United States, and the third-oldest member of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities in addition to being the oldest college or university in the state of Alabama.
