MUSKINGUM UNIVERSITY

Located in New Concord, Ohio, Muskingum University is a private institution that focuses on the liberal arts. Originally known as Muskingum College, the educational establishment was chartered in 1837 and is associated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). Students at the university, both those who have graduated and those who are currently enrolled, are referred to collectively as "Muskies," and the school's athletic teams are known as the "Fighting Muskies." The university's alumni are sometimes referred to as the "Long Magenta Line." The Muskingum River is where the county of Muskingum got its name, and New Concord can be found in the far eastern part of the county.
