Fayetteville, North Carolina is home to Methodist University, a non-public institution of higher education that has a long history of ties to the North Carolina Annual Conference[4] of the United Methodist Church. It has been granted accreditation by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The institution has five undergraduate schools and five graduate programmes, and together they offer more than eighty different majors and concentrations. In the fall of 2015, the school started accepting students into its first programme at the doctoral level, which was the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program. In August of 2018, a second programme leading to a doctoral degree, the Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program, began accepting students for its first class. Since 1990, enrollment at Methodist University has increased by approximately 100%, making it one of the most rapidly expanding educational institutions in the southeast. It welcomes students from over 41 different states as well as over 53 different countries. Since the university's first graduating class in 1964, it has conferred more than 12,000 degrees to its students. Its athletic teams have won 59 team and individual national championships in just under 50 years of competition, in addition to capturing 116 conference championships, amassing 286 All-Americans, and 51 Academic All-Americans. In just under 50 years of competition, it has also won 116 conference championships.
