Mars Hill University is a non-public institution of higher learning that may be found in Mars Hill, North Carolina. The university features graduate schools in teaching, criminal justice, and management, in addition to offering 35 undergraduate majors to its students. The university also features a school of nursing. Mars Hill College was the name of the institution from its founding in 1859 until August 2013, when it made the transition to its current name, Mars Hill University. Mars Hill is able to confer bachelor's and master's degrees because it has been granted accreditation to do so by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Additionally, Mars Hill is a member of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, the Council of Independent Colleges, the Appalachian College Association, and a number of other organisations that are comparable. The university provides students with the opportunity to earn one of seven different undergraduate degrees, including a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Fine Arts, and Bachelor of Social Work. Additionally, students can earn one of three graduate degrees, including a Master of Arts, Master of Education, or Master of Management.
