ABOUT

Granville, Ohio is home to the private liberal arts institution that is Denison University. Denison University was one of the earliest colleges to be formed in what was then known as the Northwest Territory. It was established in 1831. The Granville Literary and Theological Institution was renamed Granville College, and then it was renamed Denison University in the middle of the 1850s, in honour of a significant benefactor. Originally, the college was known as the Granville Literary and Theological Institution. In the Fall of 2019, the institution had an enrollment of 2300 students, and students had a choice of 56 academic majors. The college fields a total of 24 varsity athletic teams that compete in the NCAA Division III level of competition and are members of the North Coast Athletic Conference. The college and Kenyon College Swim & Dive have traditionally been fierce competitors against one another. The Great Lakes Colleges Association and the Five Colleges of Ohio are both organisations that Denison University is a part of.
