In Boulder, Colorado, there is a public research institution known as the University of Colorado Boulder (CU Boulder,[9] CU, or Colorado). It is the flagship institution of the University of Colorado system and was established in 1876, five months before Colorado was admitted as a state. R1: Doctoral Universities - CU Boulder is a member of the Association of American Universities, an elite association of top research universities in North America. high level of scientific activity. According to the National Science Foundation, the institution received approximately $634 million in funding for research in 2021 and spent $536 million on R&D, placing it 50th in the country. The NCAA Division I Pac-12 Conference is home to the Colorado Buffaloes, who play varsity sports in 17 different sports. 28 national titles have been won by the Buffaloes: 20 in skiing, seven overall in men's and women's cross country, and one in football. Ten Olympic medalists were produced by the university. Every year, over 1,000 students compete in over 34 intercollegiate club sports.
