UNIVERSITY OF DENVER

In Denver, Colorado, there is a private research institution called the University of Denver (DU). It is the oldest independent private institution in the Rocky Mountain region of the United States, having been founded in 1864. It falls under the category of "R1: Doctoral Universities - Very High Research Activity." About 5,700 undergraduate and 7,200 graduate students are enrolled at DU. A recognised arboretum, the 125-acre (0.51 km2) main campus is mostly found in the University Neighborhood, five miles (8 km) south of downtown Denver. The 720-acre Kennedy Mountain Campus is situated in Larimer County, about 110 miles northwest of Denver.
