Saginaw Valley State University, sometimes known as SVSU, is a public institution of higher education located in University Center, Michigan. Saginaw Valley College was initially established in the year 1963. It is situated on 748 acres (303 ha) in the Kochville Township of Saginaw County, around 5.5 miles (8.9 km) north of the city centre of Saginaw. It is the newest of Michigan's fifteen public colleges and universities, which makes it the youngest. The main campus of Saginaw Valley State University is located in University Center and is home to around 8,500 students. The university has more than 100 different undergraduate and graduate academic programmes. The five colleges that make up SVSU each have their own unique set of academic offerings.
