The primary campus of Kansas State Institution, sometimes known as KSU, Kansas State, or K-State, is located in Manhattan, Kansas, in the United States. Kansas State University is a public land-grant research university. It was the very first publicly funded institution of higher education in the state of Kansas when it initially opened its doors in 1863 as the land-grant college for the state. For the semester that began in the fall of 2014, it reached a new all-time high enrollment of 24,766 students. The university is categorised as a "R1: Doctoral University – Very high research activity," according to the Carnegie Classification. The academic programmes at Kansas State are overseen by a total of nine colleges, some of which are located in Salina. These colleges include the College of Veterinary Medicine as well as the College of Technology and Aviation. There are a total of 65 master's degree programmes and 45 doctoral degree programmes available at this institution. The branch campuses are located in Olathe and Salina. The College of Technology and Aviation is located on Kansas State University's Salina Aerospace and Technology Campus, which also serves as the campus's namesake. Graduate studies in research bioenergy, animal health, plant science, and food safety and security are the primary areas of emphasis at the Olathe Innovation Campus.
