Giulio Marangoni, a tailor, started the school in Milan in 1935. In 1942, it changed its name to Scuola Professionale Artistica, or "professional art school." The new Milan design campus is situated on via Cerva, the city's commercial hub and home to many of the most significant domestic and international design companies.
