CORK INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

There was a technological institute known as the Cork Institute of Technology that was situated in the city of Cork in Ireland. When it closed its doors, the institute had 17,000 students enrolled in a variety of programmes, including those in the arts, business, engineering, music, and the performing arts. The Sunday Times University Guide for Ireland honoured the institution on multiple occasions with the title of Institute of Technology of the Year. The institute amalgamated with the Institute of Technology, Tralee on the first of January, 2021, to become the Munster Technical University, which became Ireland's second technological university as a result of the merger. There were a total of five constituent colleges and two constituent faculties that made up the Cork Institute of Technology. Engineering and the natural sciences, as well as business and the arts, constituted the constituent faculties. The CIT Crawford College of Art and Design, the CIT Cork School of Music, and the National Maritime College of Ireland were the three colleges that made up the CIT. Schools, which in turn are composed of two or more academic departments, were the building blocks that made up faculties. As of the month of May in the year 2020, CIT had a total staff of 1,465, of which 862 were academic personnel.
