In Milan, Italy, there is a private design school called Domus Academy. In fashion, industrial design, and design management, it offers post-graduate and professional courses. The Italian ministry of education, Ministero dell'Istruzione, dell'Università e della Ricerca, does not identify it among the organisations permitted to grant degrees in music, dance, and the arts. The Mazzocchi family, who own Editoriale Domus and are responsible for the periodicals Domus and Quattroruote, founded Domus Academy in 1982. The school's president was Maria Grazia Mazzocchi. Andrea Branzi served as the organization's first 10 years' cultural director while Gianfranco Ferré worked there from 1983 to 1989. For an estimated 10 million euros, Laureate Education of Baltimore, Maryland purchased the institution in 2009. It was sold by Laureate to the British company Galileo Global Education in 2018.
