UNIVERSITY OF OREGON

In Eugene, Oregon, there is a public research institution known as the University of Oregon (UO, U of O, or Oregon). The university, which was established in 1876[8], is well recognised for its close ties to Nike, Inc., a sports apparel and marketing company co-founded by the eccentric millionaire Phil Knight. Another notable feature of UO is that it served as the backdrop for the 1978 cult comedy National Lampoon's Animal House. The Willamette River runs along the 295-acre UO campus. In addition, the university operates a satellite campus in Portland, the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology in Charleston, and the Pine Mountain Observatory in Central Oregon. Green and yellow are the UO colours.
