OREGON HEALTH AND SCIENCE UNIVERSITY

A public research institution with a primary campus in Portland, Oregon, and two hospitals, Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) primarily focuses on health sciences. The University of Oregon Medical Department, which ultimately evolved into the University of Oregon Medical School, was established in 1887. The University of Oregon Health Sciences Center was founded in 1974 and combined the state's dental, medical, nursing, and public health programs under one roof. "Oregon Health Sciences University." got its name in 1981. In 2001, it merged with Hillsboro's Oregon Graduate Institute to become what it is today. A collaborative PharmD pharmacy program between the university and Oregon State University in Corvallis is one of the university's many collaboration programs. The university's programs are nationally recognized, with the Casey Eye Institute's ophthalmology residency placing in the top 10 by Ophthalmology Times in 2020 and the School of Medicine placing in the top 5 for family medicine residency and primary care by U.S. News & World Report. Offering a wide range of programs to applicants, Oregon Health and Science University - School of Medicine provides options at the baccalaureate, master's, and doctoral levels, including professional and research. The Undergraduate Medical Education Program functions upon the balance of early clinical experience and medicine's scientific basis.
