Oklahoma City, the state capital of Oklahoma, is home to a public medical school known as the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center. It is the principal educational institution for many of Oklahoma's various health professions and is a part of the University of Oklahoma's College of Medicine, which specialises in health sciences. It is one of only four health facilities in the United States to have seven professional colleges within its umbrella. The Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center campus spans an area of fifteen blocks in Oklahoma City, next to the Oklahoma State Capitol. It is comprised of nineteen individual buildings. There are an additional twenty health-related buildings located in the area around these structures. Some of these buildings are owned by the University of Oklahoma. The Health Sciences Center is the central building that makes up the Oklahoma Health Center, which is a larger medical complex. The OU Medical Center hospital complex, The Children's Hospital, the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center, the Peggy and Charles Stephenson Oklahoma Cancer Center, and the OU Physicians and OU Children's Physicians clinics are all part of OU Medicine. Other major clinical facilities on campus include the Harold Hamm Diabetes Center and the Peggy and Charles Stephenson Oklahoma Cancer Center. The Oklahoma City VA Medical Center is another one of the primary clinical facilities that are available.
