SOUTHWESTERN CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY

Bethany, Oklahoma is home to Southwestern Christian University, a private Pentecostal institution of higher learning. It was the first Pentecostal educational institution in the state and began operations in 1946 under the name Southwestern Bible College. The school is located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In spite of the fact that it was initially founded as a Bible college inside the International Pentecostal Holiness Church with the intention of training Christian church leaders for the organisation, the denomination had immediate plans to grow the school into a junior college.
