OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY

Oklahoma Baptist University (OBU) is situated in Shawnee, 30 minutes east of Oklahoma City, and is a Christian liberal arts university. It was founded in 1910 and named 'The Baptist University of Oklahoma.' The Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma owns OBU and established it. Students have the chance to choose from more than 80 areas of study, along with the option to engage faculty mentors; they also have the opportunity to work and study abroad. The most popular majors at Oklahoma Baptist University are Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse, Business Administration and Management, Communication and Media Studies, and Counseling Psychology. Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology, Accounting, Elementary Education and Teaching, Parks, Recreation, Leisure Facilities Management, Bible/Biblical Studies, and Multi-/Interdisciplinary Studies. All unmarried students under 21 are required to live on campus in one of the single-sex residence halls or apartment complexes. Oklahoma Baptist grants bachelor's and master's degrees and is made up of seven colleges: the "College of Science and Mathematics," "College of Business," "College of Nursing," "College of Humanities and Social Sciences," "College of Fine Arts," "College of Theology and Ministry," and "College of Graduate and Professional Studies." Graduate offerings include master's degree programs in business administration and nursing. Students can also take advantage of international study programs in Brazil, China, Japan, Thailand, and numerous European countries.
