The University of Dublin is a research university located in Dublin, Ireland. The only constituent college of the University of Dublin is Trinity College, which is officially known as The Provost, Fellows, Foundation Scholars and the other members of Board, of the College of the Holy and Undivided Trinity of Queen Elizabeth near Dublin. The college was established in 1592 by Queen Elizabeth I as "the mother of a university" that was modelled after the collegiate universities of Oxford and Cambridge. However, unlike these affiliated institutions, only one college was ever established; as a result, the designations "Trinity College" and "University of Dublin" are usually synonymous for practical purposes. This is because the college was modelled after the collegiate universities of Oxford and Cambridge.

Trinity College Dublin is ranked 101st in the world by the QS World University Rankings 2023. It is also ranked 71st in the world by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023.
