SOUTHERN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY

Established in 1971, Southern Institute of Technology (SIT) is a public tertiary education institution (NZ TEI). With 13,758 registrants in 2017 contributing to a total of 4,922 Equivalent Full-Time students (EFTs), 3,989 domestic, and 933 international, it is one of New Zealand's major technical institutes. SIT is well known for its Zero Fees Program. Students who participate in the programme can save tens of thousands of dollars on the price of their higher education. It is open to New Zealand nationals and permanent residents. The Institute is also well known for the calibre of its infrastructure and tools. Along with the other 15 Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics, Southern Institute of Technology will be absorbed into Te Pkenga (the New Zealand Institute of Skills & Technology) on April 1, 2020. (ITPs). SIT provides more than 200 programmes at the postgraduate, graduate, bachelor, diploma, and certificate levels in a variety of academic, technical, and professional topics.
