Ara Institute of Canterbury, also known simply as Ara, is a technological university in Canterbury, New Zealand. It was created in 2016 through the union of Aoraki Polytechnic and the Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology (CPIT). Ara is an expert in applied tertiary education. Business, engineering, architecture, nursing, the arts, hospitality, computing, science, languages, outdoor education, and broadcasting are among the available subjects. Programs are available at Levels 1 through 9. To guarantee that students acquire the necessary skills for employment and have access to a variety of work placement options, the institute collaborates closely with industry. Around 14,000 students, many of them from abroad, enroll at Ara each year. One of the top English language training facilities in New Zealand belongs to Ara, which enjoys international recognition. The personnel and students at Ara come from more than 50 different nations. Along with the other 15 Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics (ITPs) in the nation, Ara was absorbed into the New Zealand Institute of Skills & Technology on April 1, 2020.
