ABOUT

The largest privately held tertiary institution in Auckland, New Zealand, is the Auckland Institute of Studies (AIS). In the Downtown commercial district of Auckland, AIS was founded in 1990. In 1993, when it had been transformed into a tertiary residential campus, it relocated into the former St. Helens Maternity Hospital in Mt. Albert, Auckland. There are presently two campuses for the institute in Mount Albert: the St. Helens Campus at 28a Linwood Avenue and the Asquith Campus at 120 Asquith Avenue. In the fields of business, information technology, tourism management, and hospitality management, AIS provides bachelor's and master's degree programmes. A variety of English language courses, including English teacher training, are available through the institute's own English Language Center (CertTESOL). The Center for Research in International Education and the institute have a close relationship (CRIE).
