ABOUT
Penn State Law, which can be found in University Park, Pennsylvania, is one of two law schools that are affiliated with the Pennsylvania State University and are both independently accredited. The J.D., LL.M., and S.J.D. degrees are all available to students at Penn State Law. In addition, the school collaborates with other Penn State graduate schools to provide a joint Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration degree with the Smeal College of Business and a Juris Doctor/Master of International Affairs degree with the School of International Affairs, both of which are housed in the Lewis Katz Building. The Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania is credited with laying the groundwork for what would later become Penn State Law. Penn State and The Dickinson School of Law merged in the year 2000, and Penn State's Dickinson School of Law continued to operate as a single law school with two campuses up until the fall of 2014. One of the campuses was located in Carlisle, and the other was located on Penn State's University Park campus in State College, Pennsylvania. The academic year of 2006-2007 marked the beginning of classes at the University Park campus for the very first time. Dickinson Law, which is located in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and Penn State Law, which is located in University Park, Pennsylvania, both share the history of The Dickinson School of Law. Penn State received approval from the American Bar Association in the summer of 2014 to operate the two campuses as two separate and distinct law schools, even though they both share the history of The Dickinson School of Law. In the rankings of Best Graduate Schools that were released by U.S. News & World Report in 2021, Penn State Law was ranked 60th out of the 194 law schools that were fully accredited by the American Bar Association.
