PENNSYLVANIA COLLEGE OF ART & DESIGN

Lancaster, Pennsylvania is home to the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design (PCA&D), a private art and design college that operates on a not-for-profit basis. The college provides students with the opportunity to earn Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees and certificates, as well as participate in a continuing education programme that awards professional certificates, and choose from a wide range of studio and computer classes that can be taken for credit or for no credit at all. Both the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) have granted Pennsylvania College of Art & Design their accreditation (MSCHE). The faculty and staff of the recently defunct York Academy of Arts established PCA&D in 1982 as the Pennsylvania School of the Arts in Marietta, Pennsylvania. At the time, the school was known as PCA&D. In 1984, the college was granted accreditation from the NASAD. PCA&D relocated to its current location in the heart of downtown Lancaster in the year 1987. Accreditation from the MSCHE was granted to the college in the year 2008. Both the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design as well as the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania are organisations that PCA&D is a part of.

In the year 2020, the Pennsylvania College of Art and Design charged students a total of $9,150 for room and board. The Pennsylvania College of Art and Design does not, however, provide meal plans for its students.
