SOUTH DAKOTA STATE UNIVERSITY

In the city of Brookings, South Dakota, is the public land-grant research university known as South Dakota State University. It is the oldest university in South Dakota that is still in operation, in addition to being the largest and most comprehensive university in the state. It was established in 1881.  The South Dakota Board of Regents, which also oversees the state's other six public universities and two special schools, is in charge of the university's administration. South Dakota State University is a land-grant university that was established in accordance with the requirements of the Morrill Act of 1862. As a result of its land-grant background and mission, the university has placed a particular emphasis on the academic programmes it offers in the fields of agriculture, engineering, nursing, and pharmacy, in addition to the liberal arts. It is categorised as an R2 university, which stands for "Doctoral Universities - High Research Activity." The graduate programme is a doctoral concentration with a heavy emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
