NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE UNIVERSITY

In Maryville, Missouri, there is a public institution called Northwest Missouri State University. There are roughly 7,870 students enrolled there. It was established in 1905 as a teachers college, and today it serves as the official Missouri State Arboretum. The campus was modelled after Forest Park at the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. President John Jasinski serves as the president of the state-appointed Board of Regents that oversees the institution. For both men's and women's athletics, the Northwest Bearcats participate in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (Division II).
