St. Louis, Missouri is home to the historically black Harris–Stowe State University. This state university was established in 1867. The institution provides students with the opportunity to pursue one of fifty different majors, minors, and certificate programmes in the areas of teaching, business, and the arts and sciences. It is a school that participates in the Thurgood Marshall College Fund as a member institution. It is located directly to the east of the main campus of Saint Louis University. In 2019, the school had a total enrollment of 1,630 pupils.
