 What is the Exam format of PTE?

1. Speaking and Writing includes: (77-93 mins)

1.1             Personal introduction: This sub-section doesn’t have a score. You have 25 seconds to prepare your response and 30 seconds to record your answer. You are allowed to record the answer only once.
1.2             Read aloud: A text appears on the screen. You are supposed to read it aloud clearly and lucidly.
1.3             Repeat sentence: Repeat the sentence after listening to a recording of the same.
1.4             Describe image: An image appears on the screen. You have to describe the image in detail.  
1.5             Re-tell lecture: After listening to a lecture you have to precisely re-tell the lecture in your own words.
1.6             Answer short questions: After listening to a question, answer the questions related to it.
1.7             Summarize written text: After reading a passage, summarize the same in one sentence.
1.8             Essay: You have to write an essay of 200-300 words on a specific topic.  
 

2. Reading: (32-41 mins)

2.1             Reading & writing: Fill in the blanks
2.2             Multiple-choice, choose multiple answers: After reading a text, you can choose more than one correct answer to the question from the choices. provided.
2.3             Re-order paragraphs: Text boxes appear in random order on the screen. You have to replace the text in the correct order.
2.4             Reading: Fill in the blanks: A passage appears on the screen with several blanks. You have to drag the correct fillers form the options.
2.5             Multiple-choice, choose a single answer: After reading a text, choose one correct answer to the question from the choices provided.
 

3. Listening includes: (45-57 mins)

3.1             Summarize spoken text: Write a 50-70 word summary after listening to an audio recording.
3.2             Multiple-choice, choose multiple answers: After listening to an audio recording, you can choose more than one correct answer to the question from the choices. provided.
3.3             Fill in the blanks: A transcript of an audio recording appears on the screen. It has gaps for you to fill them with the correct answers.
3.4             Highlight correct summary: After listening to a recording, you have to select the paragraph from the options on the screen that best summarizes the audio.
3.5             Multiple-choice, choose a single answer: After listening to an audio, choose one correct answer to the question from the choices provided.
3.6             Select missing word: After listening to an audio recording, you have to select the correct word that completes the audio recording.
3.7             Highlight incorrect words: A recording transcript appears on the screen. While listening to an audio recording,  identify the words that differ from what is said on the recording.
3.8             Write from dictation: While listening to an audio recording, type the same on the screen.
