In the town of Somers, in the state of Wisconsin, there is a public institution known as the University of Wisconsin–Parkside. There are 4,644 students enrolled, 161 full-time faculty members, and 89 lecturers and part-time faculty members at this campus, which is a part of the University of Wisconsin System. In its 22 academic departments, the institution provides students with the opportunity to pursue one of 33 undergraduate majors or 11 master's degree programmes. UW-Stout is the other university in the UW System that is not named after the city in which it is located. UW-Parkside is one of the two institutions in the UW System that is not named for the city in which it is located. The Higher Learning Commission has given it their seal of approval. In the realm of collegiate athletics, the University of Wisconsin–Parkside competes at the Division II level of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The athletic department is known as the Parkside Rangers, and its teams compete in colours of dark forest green, pure white, and black. The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference is where the Rangers compete in collegiate athletics.
