The lone university in the province is the University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI). The advantages of on-campus housing and parking are available to students. A number of the university's buildings bear the names of employees, pupils, and other constituents who have made major contributions to its success. Compared to the previous academic year, the university's student enrollment rose during the 2018–19 academic year. In the same year, there were 4,208 undergraduate students enrolled, and 461 postgraduate students. Enrollment increased by 2.1% and 8.0% for both groups. A number of famous alumni who are leaders in their fields were produced by the University of Prince Edward Island.
