The year 1861 marks the beginning of operations for what is now known as the Institution of Lincoln, a public research university located in Lincoln, England. In 1992, it was granted university status, and in 2001, it was given its current name. The primary campus can be found adjacent to the Brayford Pool in the middle of Lincoln's bustling downtown.
