The University of Alaska Southeast (UA Southeast, Alaska Southeast, or UAS) is a public university that has extended campuses in Sitka and Ketchikan in addition to its main campus in Juneau, Alaska. It is a part of the University of Alaska System and was established on July 1, 1987, following the reorganisation and consolidation of the former University of Alaska Juneau, Ketchikan Community College, and Islands Community College. Ketchikan Community College is the only one of the three that is still in operation (Sitka). The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities has granted the university's application for accreditation.
