TOWSON UNIVERSITY

In Towson, Maryland, there is a public institution called Towson University (TU or Towson). Towson University, a member of the University System of Maryland, was established in 1866 as the first teacher-training institution in the state of Maryland. The university has grown into eight subsidiary colleges with more than 20,000 students since its founding. Its 329-acre campus is located eight miles north of downtown Baltimore in Baltimore County, Maryland. One of Maryland's largest public institutions, Towson continues to generate more instructors than any other institution in the state.
