The New Jersey City University, abbreviated as NJCU, is a public institution of higher education located in Jersey City, New Jersey. New Jersey City University was initially chartered in 1927 and was known as Jersey City State College for the first 40 years of its history. Today, the university is comprised of four colleges: the College of Business, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Education, and the College of Professional Studies. There are more than 8,500 students enrolled at NJCU, which is a part of the public higher education system in New Jersey.
