Johnson & Wales University (often abbreviated as JWU) is a non-public institution of higher education that has its primary campus located in Providence, Rhode Island. JWU was initially established in 1914 by Gertrude I. Johnson and Mary T. Wales as a school of commerce. In the fall of 2020, JWU had 7,357 students enrolled across all of its locations. The New England Commission of Higher Education has conferred its accreditation upon the university.
