GONZAGA UNIVERSITY

Private Jesuit institution Gonzaga University is located in Spokane, Washington. The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities has accredited it. The university is named after the young Jesuit saint Aloysius Gonzaga and was established in 1887 by Joseph Cataldo, a priest and Jesuit missionary of Italian descent. On 152 acres (62 ha) of grassland alongside the Spokane River, in a residential area 800 meters from downtown Spokane, the campus has 105 structures. Through its college and six schools—the College of Arts & Sciences, School of Business Administration, School of Education, School of Engineering & Applied Science, School of Law, School of Nursing & Human Physiology, and the School of Leadership Studies—the university awards bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.
