ABOUT

The Muncie, Indiana campus of Ball State University, also known as Ball State, State, or BSU, is a public research university. Both Fishers and Indianapolis are home to one of its two satellite locations. On July 25, 1917, the Ball brothers, who were industrialists and the founders of the Ball Corporation, purchased the foreclosed Indiana Normal Institute for the sum of $35,100. They then gave the school as well as the land that surrounded it to the state of Indiana. The donation was accepted by the Indiana General Assembly in the spring of 1918, and on June 17, 1918, the first class of 235 students began attending the Indiana State Normal School – Eastern Division. In the category known as "R2: Doctoral Universities – High Research Activity," Ball State University can be found. There are seven separate academic colleges that make up the university. There were 15,205 undergraduate students and 5,817 postgraduate students out of a total enrollment of 21,597 students as of the fall semester of 2020. The university provides more than one hundred different master's, doctoral, certificate, and specialist degrees, in addition to approximately 120 undergraduate majors and 130 minor areas of study. The campus is home to more than 400 student organisations and clubs, with a total of 31 different collegiate fraternities and sororities. The Ball State Cardinals are the name of the athletic teams that compete in Division I of the NCAA and represent the university. Both the Mid-American Conference and the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association have accepted the university as a member institution. The institution of higher learning established a varsity esports team in the Fall of 2020 and became a member of the Esports Collegiate Conference.
