MARIAN UNIVERSITY INDIANAPOLIS

Marian University, located in Indianapolis, Indiana, is a private Roman Catholic university. The Sisters of St. Francis founded the institution in Oldenburg, Indiana, in 1851, and it moved to Indianapolis in 1937. Marian was known as Marian College until 2009, when it changed its name to Marian University. In 2013, the university established Indiana's first medical school in more than a century, as well as the state's first osteopathic medical school and the state's second functioning medical school at the time. The Sisters of St. Francis are linked with the university. In 2017, there were 2,431 undergraduates, 1,164 graduate students, and 650 doctoral students enrolled. Football in 2012 and 2015; Women's Basketball in 2016 and 2017; Men's Track and Field 60-meter hurdles in 2016 and 2017, and 110-meter hurdles and 800 metre in 2017. Marian University athletes have won 45 USA Cycling National Championships and 8 NAIA National Championships: Men's Track and Field 60-meter hurdles in 2016, Football in 2012 and 2015; Women's Basketball in 2016 and 2017; and 2017, and 110-meter hurdles and 800 metre in 2017. Knightro the Knight is their mascot.
